Kids Outdoor Sports Camp (KOSC) is dedicated to building youngsters outdoor skills enabling them to engage in hunting and fishing opportunities, understand the importance of wildlife conservation management, learn to appreciate natural resources, and preserve our fishing and hunting heritage.
KOSC was founded in 1998 by Judy Oswald. After taking her grandchildren to participate in a hunter education course, Judy felt she could make the experience more beneficial to youth. She wanted more hands-on experience and several days of training versus the traditional one or two-day courses that were offered at the time.
KOSC started their first year with one camp of 30 kids. Over the next twenty years, it blossomed into the most successful and interactive hunter education course in the state. The camps are held at Red Bank Outfitters, one of the oldest hunting clubs in California, and the incredible venue allows the kids to stay all week and truly experience every aspect that the outdoors has to offer. KOSC currently runs five to six camps a summer and each camp houses 25-30 kids. For those who already have their Hunter’s Education Certificate, KOSC offers an advanced camp to hone their shooting skills and further their knowledge of the outdoors. 2018 is KOSC’s 21st year of operation, and they pride themselves on giving youth the opportunity to become involved in the outdoors.
